Y'ALL!  I'm super excited to share the easiest DIY Halloween craft with you.

Ideas have been swirling around in my brain on something cute to use this year to hold all the Halloween candy for our trick-or-treaters.

While shopping at Michael's, I spied this crate and I had my Oprah 'aha' moment.

The best part about this crate is the fabulous finish.  No staining or painting necessary because it's already PERFECT.  Winning, right? And even though Halloween is only a few days away, this is such a fast, easy craft, you'll have plenty of time!

After searching online, I found a few Halloween printables to decoupage on the crate.

These Halloween block letters from Paper Craft magazine were perfect for the front of the crate.  You can find them here.

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

• Wooden crate (Michael's or Hobby Lobby)
• Printables
• Decoupage medium (Mod Podge)
• Sponge brush
• Sanding block

Cut out all the printables, lightly apply Mod Podge to the back of paper and glue to the crate.  I cannot stress enough to sparingly use the Mod Podge so the paper won't wrinkle. Trust me, you'll thank me later.

See how perfect the paper looks?  I wanted to make it look worn and weathered, so once the glue was dried, I used the sanding block over the entire label.  You can sand as much or as little as you want depending on the look you're going for on your own crate.

Now the paper looks like it's an original part of the crate not just something glued on later. 

After sanding all the labels on the crate, I sealed them with Mod Podge. Perfectly worn and weathered, right?!

Using tin buckets I already had (originally from Target's dollar spot), I sorted the candy so trick-or-treaters could choose their favorites. Those Skittles might not last around here 'til Halloween. Just sayin'.

In our house, it's ALL ABOUT THE CANDY!  Now, we're ready for Halloween in high style with this rustic candy crate station. {By the way, I hand-painted that pallet sign several years ago for our front porch.}
