How to Change Home Decor With A Five Minute Makeover

If you ever pass up decorative accessories because they aren't the right color, this makeover might make you think again.

We've been slowing updating what used to be a playroom into more of a tween hangout space.  With so many projects in the works at the same time, it's been a slow process.

We decided to have a designated R wall so I've searching for different styles of letters to hang on it.

This lowercase R was on clearance at Hobby Lobby and it was too good a deal to pass up. Since we already had a white R, I knew a quick paint job would change it in no time.

Using a chip brush, I brushed on a coat of antiquing glaze.  Without letting it dry, I wiped off the excess. I love how the glaze catches in all the nooks and crannies and gives it a true aged appearance.

Since this letter wouldn't be getting handled, I didn't even bother using a top coat to seal it. Seriously, this is the easiest makeover ever!  You can paint ANYTHING and glazing it probably took less than 5 minutes!

Even though I really liked how the R looked white, we needed another color to balance it out. As you can see, we still need to finish the wall but I'm happy to finally make some progress!

So, the next time you see a home accessory on clearance and it's the wrong color - get it anyway!  You can always, always paint it to match your home.
