Dollar Store Pom Pom Centerpieces
/Teacher Appreciation Week is May 2-6 and as part of the Hospitality Team for my son's elementary school, I help host our annual Teacher Appreciation Luncheon.
We needed simple and inexpensive table decorations for our Bloom Where You are Planted theme. Everything I used came from the Dollar store to create pretty pom pom centerpieces.
Here's my list of supplies:
- Mini terracotta pots (2 for $1)
- Lace ribbon
- Packs of tissue pom poms
- Florist foam
- Paper straws
- White glaze
- Sponge (to apply glaze)
- Glue gun
Using a damp sponge, I applied General Finishes Winter White glaze over the outside of each pot. Next, I wet sanded over the glaze to give the pots an extra smooth and aged appearance.
I cut the ribbon in strips and attached to the center of each pot with hot glue.
Doesn't the ribbon add such a pretty accent?
These hanging tissue pom poms came in packs of two. Following the instructions on the package, I unfolded the tissue paper to create the pom poms. Then, I tied paper straws to the ribbon inside the middle of each pom pom. Once all the pom poms were assembled, I inserted the paper straws into florist foam inside each small pot.
Such a simple DIY centerpiece for any occasion and they are perfect for our themed luncheon! They would be lovely for tea parties or bridal showers too!
This free printable from How To Nest for Less makes a perfect accent to these centerpieces.
With the decorations all ready to go, I'm prepared to give our teachers and staff a special luncheon!
