I stopped in my local Salvation Army and found this amazing vanity. As I was checking it out, another shopper started eyeing it so I snatched the sold tag off and bee lined to the checkout. This was not going to be the piece that got away!

The vanity was already amazing but I knew with a little paint it would kick it up a notch.

I mixed up a batch of my custom coral, Flush, using DecoArt chalky finish. Find the tutorial for mixing your own here.

The top was so beautiful but unfortunately had many scratches that needed to be removed. After sanding and restaining the top of the vanity, using a custom mix of General Finishes gel stain in walnut and java, I got to work on the bottom.

The existing wood was so pretty, I decided not to paint with opaque coverage. To leave some of the wood exposed, I used the dry brush method to paint the bottom with Flush. I also opted to leave part of the drawer fronts wood and paint only around the perimeter.

Typically, I try to use existing hardware. To make the top drawers a little more interesting, I switched to some fancier, crystal knobs. Once again, Hobby Lobby provided the perfect knobs!

Once it was dry, I distressed the paint using a fine grit sanding block to give a weathered, worn painted effect. I sealed the entire vanity with a matte wax varnish for protection and durability.

You know that flushed feeling you get when you're first in love? This restyled vanity totally lives up to its name, don't you think?
