Vintage Sheet Music Mini Wooden Crates

The month of December is such a busy time for our family between birthdays, volunteering and being involved in the PTA there is little time left over for big projects like furniture restyles.  Luckily, I'm able to squeeze in a few crafts.

If you saw my Dollar Store Santa Mason Jars, you know how much trouble I can get into at the dollar section of Target.

While shopping for stocking stuffers, I found these mini-wooden crates at Target's dollar spot and grabbed a few.  I wasn't sure exactly what I'd use them for but I knew I would think of something fun.

After making several of the Dollar Store Santa Mason Jars for teacher gifts, I realized these mini crates were the perfect size to hold them.

I gave the crates a quick wash of white paint (General Finishes Antique White).  To create a wash, you thin the paint out by adding water until you get the consistency you want.

I found this vintage sheet music to decoupage on the front of the crate.

Using Mod Podge, I decoupaged the sheet music to the front and back of the crate.

Once it was dry, I followed the same method of removing the excess paper as my Rustic Halloween Candy Crates.

After seeing how pretty these burlap poinsettias look in the crates, I might use one of these as a floral centerpiece.

These mini crates are the perfect size to use as packaging for small presents.  Plus, there are tons of possibilities on how to decorate them!

If you saw the bird tissue paper I posted on Facebook, my next project will be decoupaging it onto one of these mini-crates to hold seed for my bird loving dad! Stay tuned to see how it turns out!

Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year to you and yours!
